PreWound Embroidery Bobbins Recommendations
·
Prewound embroidery bobbins- Per-wound embroider
bobbins have become a cost effective, convenient alternative to metal bobbins
wound in-shop. There are many versions on prewound embroidery bobbins. Magnetic
(Sideless), cardboard sided, or plastic sided are the typical core styles. Bobbin
thread is wound around the core. Knowing the core style and manufacturing
process for the bobbin thread chosen will help keep your commercial embroidery
machine running consistently. Bobbin thread is continuous polyester filament,
spun polyester or spun cotton. Knowing what prewound bobbins to purchase can
be a fundamental difference between fast efficient embroidery and a slow thread
break after thread break downtime.
·
Continuous polyester filament bobbin thread- Continuous
polyester filament bobbin thread is synthetic bobbin thread wound from a single
polyester thread. This bobbin thread has a high tensile strength. The benefit
to embroiderers is consistent, lint free bobbin thread with fewer thread breaks.
Consistence helps regulate embroidery thread tension. This embroidery bobbin
thread is typically the most expensive.
·
Spun polyester embroidery bobbin thread- Spun
polyester embroidery bobbin thread is polyester similar to the poly fill inside
pillows or stuffed animals. The difference is bobbin thread is twisted and
heated while being pulled. This bobbin thread is also a synthetic material with
a higher tensile strength. Though not as strong as continuous filament
polyester thread, this style bobbin thread is good for embroiderers on a budget
who don’t mind a little inconsistency and some lint build-up in the bobbin case.
·
Magnetic core
pre-wound embroidery bobbins- Magnetic Core bobbins are a sideless bobbin with
a small magnet in the center of the core to regulate friction in the bobbin
case. A certain amount of resistance is necessary to stop the bobbin from over
spinning. Magnetic core bobbins have the ability no other embroidery bobbin
has, absolute steady regulated bobbin spin. Magnetic core embroidery bobbins
are available in size M and L size.
·
Cardboard sided pre-wound embroidery bobbins-
Cardboard sided prewound embroidery bobbins are the most popular embroidery
bobbin. Cardboard sided bobbins offer some resistance in the bobbin case and
are available in all price ranges. Cardboard sided bobbins are harder to damage
during shipping and have been the foundation for embroidery since the onset of
prewound embroidery bobbins. Cardboard sided pre-wound embroidery bobbins are
available in size M and size L.
·
Plastic sided pre-wound embroidery bobbins- Plastic
sided prewound embroidery bobbins are the cost effective answer to magnetic
and cardboard sided prewound embroidery bobbins. These embroidery bobbins are
most likely to over spin in the bobbin case. Bobbin cases with a backlash
spring are most compatible with these embroidery bobbins. Plastic sided
embroidery bobbins are available in size M and L size.
